How to chroma key in Shotcut and Shotcut green screen tutorial.

Introduction

Last tutorial I told about 20 audio effects in Shotcut free video editor. This tutorial I am going to tell you how to green screen (chroma key)  in Shotcut video editor. There are many video filters to chroma key in the Shotcut video editor. All ways have different features. This tutorial I will tell about all ways to chromakey in Shotcut video editor.

Let's start

First, you need to add your background video or image. You can firstly add this to your playlist and after you can add this for your timeline. If you don't know how to add a media file to the timeline and basic things you want to know in Shotcut you can read my Shocut starter tutorial. Then you can add your video you need to remove the background to the top layer in the timeline. Now you need to go to the filters tab. You can go to the filters tab using shortcut key Ctrl + 6 or you can click the filter button on the toolbar.  If you don't know about video filters in Shotcut yery well you can read this post - 50 Shotcut video effects and what can you do using these effects.

chroma key: simple

This is a very easy method to chromakey in Shotcut. Using this video effect you can chromakey your green screen or any color only using one click.

How to add

To add this effect firstly you need to select your media file needs to key then go to filters and click + mark then you can add this video effect.

How to use

Now you can see the green screen removed a little bit. You can change the key color you want. Then you can see the distance bar. Now you can adjust the distance. The distance can help with better chromakey.
Now you can see your green screen is removed.

 But some points are not removed correctly. Don't worry we can fix this. To fix this you need to add Alpha Channel: Adjust video effect for your video clip. Now you can select the alpha Channel mode you want. Then you need to change the amount for good editing. Now you can see some points are removed correctly.

Chroma key: advanced

This is an advanced method more than chroma key: simple. If you using Chroma key: simple, maybe you got some problems like not removing the green screen correctly. This is the best solution for resolving these problems.

How to add

You can add this video effect likely chroma key simple. only you have to do go to filters and press the + button and add this video effect.

How to use

After adding this Shotcut video effect now you can see your green screen removed a little bit. Firstly you need to select the color you need to remove. Then you can select color space red-green-blue or hue-chroma-intensity. I am using RGB for this work. Now you can adjust red, green, and blue data you want. Then you can select shape and edge. I like the Ellipsoid shape and thin edge. You can choose what shape and edge good for your project. If you choose the slope edge you can chang slop in slop option.

 Now you can chromakey your videos using Shotcut video editor very easily.
